Keeping up with Jake in October

Here’s the thing: back in June, I mentioned our exciting new play idea. After a quick workshop, it seemed like we had something special.

Usually, transforming an idea into a polished production takes us about two years. But guess what? We just held auditions and selected our cast—only 85 days after that first workshop! That’s not typical Indian Ink; that’s Indian Blink!

Now, to be clear, we haven’t actually written the play yet. So, you might wonder, “How can you cast a play you haven’t written?” The secret? We’re adapting a short story, so we know the characters and the ending—well, sort of.

Casting early lets us shape the roles around the actors’ unique strengths, allowing us to build the plane while we’re flying it. Plus, the more time the cast spends together, the stronger the ensemble becomes.

Building a plane and building a play may seem very different but let me assure you – the end result will be riveting.
