Jamming in January January 31st, 2024 Keeping up with Jake in January Summer greetings! Our plum tree has always been pretty reliable but this year it’s gone bonkers. The plums are weighing down the branches and the footpath underneath is starting to look like a crime scene with all the carnage the birds are wreaking on the dropped fruit. We had to lop off a huge branch last year as it had gotten to be a head hazard. Clearly that amputation freed up energy for the rest of the tree which is going to see the jam jar overflowing this summer. I’m doing a similar amputation on a script at the moment. It’s been sitting in the desk for years, not a head hazard but definitely headache inducing. A friend advised us to remove a big chunk of dead wood from the middle and, as I’m doing it, I can feel the energy shooting through the rest of the script. I’m very hopeful it’s going to bear fruit this time and lead to a red carpet. Roll on Jam-uary! Life’s full of plot twists – don’t miss ours!
