Marvellous May May 30th, 2024 Keeping up with Jake in May I swapped 13°C in Wellington for 31°C in Singapore this month. We’re here performing Paradise or the Impermanence of Ice Cream. The diverse audiences, inclusive of ex-pat Indians and Parsis, makes me feel really connected to home. The show’s nuances aren’t missed and they’re invested in the mystery of the vanishing vultures. On opening night I got chatting with Blake Tatroe, the International Director of Michael Cassel Group – they bring all the Broadway hits to Australasia. Blake kindly arranged tickets for me and the crew to see Hamilton. The timing was perfect. We went along the day after our 100th performance of Paradise. Watching those actors and dancers deliver 3 hours of powerhouse spectacle was made even more impressive when told they do 8 shows a week! In a few hours I’ll be heading to the theatre to do our final double show but with a whole new attitude. In the words of Hamilton: “Immigrants, we get the job done.” Life’s full of plot twists – don’t miss ours!
