Keeping up with Jake in July

We’re pregnant!

Well…..kind of. We have an idea for a new show and this month we got in a room with our actors and ran some tests.

Maybe it’s true of any act of creation but a theatre workshop has all the hallmarks of the early stages of pregnancy. Equal parts chaos, magic, anxiety, euphoria, dread and wonder.

We specifically focused on form. By that I mean the “how” we tell rather than the “what” we tell.

There were 2 questions:
1. How can multiple storytellers tell a single story?
2. How can we evoke a 4 year old child on stage?

After 5 days of exploration we were relieved to see the shape and beating heart of our new play.

We don’t have a due date or even a name yet but one thing I can tell you now – it’s a little girl.
