Keeping up with Jake in June

Guru of Chai filled my cup this month. We kicked off with a special performance at the Swaminarayan Temple Complex in Papatoetoe.

The show itself transports you imaginatively to Bangalore and New Delhi but it didn’t hurt that a lot of the architecture inside and outside of the temple was brought in from India.

The response was electric and it felt like we’d received a blessing as we kicked off our Auckland season at Q Theatre.

Opening night brought the audience to their feet and we never looked back.

The work we’d done on refreshing the script, the music and the lighting paid off. Loads of people who’d already seen the show told us how glad they were that they saw it again – some coming back within the week!

Word is getting out, so much so that we’ve added two new cities to meet demand.

Look out for the chai train coming to a town near you. My cup runneth over!
