I lost an invaluable member of the writing team this month. Sadly, Gracie will no longer be on the floor beside me to bounce ideas off or to shrug my hand off the keyboard with her nose when it’s time to go for a walk.

I told Murray Edmond, our dramaturge, the sad news, and he shared with me this epitaph written by Lord Byron for his beloved dog, Boatswain:

“One who possessed Beauty without Vanity,
Strength without Insolence,
Courage without Ferocity,
and all the Virtues of Man without his Vices.”
