Keeping up with Jake in June

Phew! I can’t tell you how lucky I feel to have made it through June. Our celebratory season of Krishnan’s Dairy and Mrs Krishnan’s Party

at Auckland’s Q Theatre had a slight wobble with Kalyani Nagarajan (Mrs Krishnan) succumbing to covid in the midst of it all but she rallied to see out the season like the trooper she is. The positive about testing positive is that Kaly will be completely in the clear when she performs at the prestigious BroadStage in Santa Monica next month. One step closer to those Hollywood stars.

I’ve managed to avoid getting sick so far – a testament to my rigorous use of mask on stage and lack of social interaction off stage 😔.

Somehow, in the midst of the chaos of putting on two shows, we’ve managed to squeeze in 2 workshops for our new play, Dirty Work – An Ode to Joy.

Performing by night and creating by day isn’t ideal but you don’t get to celebrate 25 years without putting in the mahi, people!

I hope you’ll be amongst the lucky last to see our final tour of Krishnan’s Dairy as we set up shop one last time in Kapiti, Christchurch, Hamilton and Wellington. The response and love for this show has been staggering. In the words of A.A. Milne:

“How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
