Month three and we have updates from Houston. Justin Rogers aka DJ Jimmy J is taking us behind the scenes of life on tour:

We’re currently in Houston with Mrs Krishnan’s Party. Before each show, Kal, Andrew and I go through a checklist of things we have to make sure are in place for the top of the show. Are there enough spices? Is the power cable unplugged? Are the DJ sunnies in the right spot? One of my jobs is to make sure the balloons are set for a few volunteers to hand out and have blown up at the end of the show.

Individually, these things seem tiny and insignificant. I mean, would it be so bad if there weren’t balloons tonight? The answer is YES! After all, if you remove one screw from a ship, it isn’t the same ship anymore.

Just like life, theatre is moment to moment. An instant, a glance, a thought, a breath in… on their own you can miss them, but together they form the tapestry of the show. That’s where the magic comes from. I love being reminded of how important the details are.
